Hello all,
I have just visited this site, and I was amazed to see such tools do exist, and I am excited to use it. However, I have a question. I was wondering if OpenCascade supports STEP file formats (import and export).
Thanks,
Vijay.

Absolutely...
STEPControl_Reader and STEPControl_Writer are the basic classes and
work well enough for me. STEPCAFControl_Reader and
STEPCAF_Control_Writer can also be used to use the document through
the OpenCASCADE XDE document system.

Hi,
I'm new in OpenCascade.
Actually I participate to an european project called KOBAS. The aim of this project is to create a complete CAM system (FEM, Manufacturing Rules, Data Base Experience ...).
I need to have the geometry representation of object which cames from a STEP file.
Actually I can visualise an imported STEP file but I can't obtain the geometry (points , lines, curves...) which represent this one.
Can someone help me ?
Thanks for your answer.

Hello Vijay,
You can use Import/Export sample to interactively experiment with translation of STEP files.
Open CASCADE supports AP203/214 with translation to/from shapes/documents. AP209 is supported at the level of reading/writing into transient classes in memory (mapping to application FEM objects is to be implemented at the application level).
For all supported formats see an image here - http://www.opencascade.org/support/products/dataex/solutions/.
