Boolean ops problems!

Anonymous's picture

Hello all,

I am attempting to convert CAD models to OpenCascade. The models I am converting consist entirely of a small set of solid primitive shapes which are combined together using boolean operations. The problem is that roughly 5% of the parts I convert cause either infinite loops in the boolean op code (e.g. BrepAlgoAPI_Fuse), or generate access violations, or the result of the boolean operation is wrong (e.g faces that are supposed to be there have dropped out).

Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Are there reasonable tolerances I should use other than the default settings? What effect do the various tolerances have on boolean operations? Are there other considerations here that I may not be aware of?
