Paris, April 5, 2001 – Available in April, Prelude INSPECTION Version 6, built with Open CASCADE, optimizes part inspection and quality control within the virtual manufacturing environment and brings productivity gains of up to 40%. Thanks to intuitive interface ergonomics based on the Windows model and increased openness to part data from leading CAD/CAM systems, Prelude INSPECTION fits smoothly and efficiently into the product and process engineering environment.
Innovative features save time by increasing productivity and ease of use
· A new off-line programming mode enables production use while simultaneously providing virtual control of dimensions, position and freeform surfaces for parts to be inspected.
· An interface with the universal Renishaw numeric controller allows connecting to all types of measuring machines, thereby providing a generic solution for measure and control needs that is independent of the type of co-ordinate measuring machine used.
· Files in native format speed data exchange from CATIA, the CAD/CAM leader, for on- and off-line measure and control programming, while DMIS, IGES, SET, STEP and VDA interfaces allow recovery of outside model data.
Prelude INSPECTION Version 6 benefits from the Open CASCADE components
The new version of Prelude INSPECTION was developed using certified version 3.1 of Open CASCADE and incorporates components for surfaces, data exchange, treatment of NURBS curves, shell topology, visualization, dynamic pre-selection and graphics (notably shading and transparency functions). Open CASCADE's unique surface modeling functions have provided Prelude INSPECTION with an important competitive advantage for the inspection of freeform parts. Use of Open CASCADE has also allowed a considerable reduction in development costs that translates directly into a lower price for end users.
As a member of the Open CASCADE Core Team, Flore Lantheaume, a Prelude INSPECTION developer, has contributed a number of improvements to the developer version of Open CASCADE, available in Open Source at http://www.opencascade.org. The stable version 3.1 of Open CASCADE can be downloaded free of charge at http://www.opencascade.com.
